Some pics of the model progress....

Here as promised is some pics of the model. I spent a lot of time modeling the body with the correct lines and everything for the mus-kulls. I started doing a lot of work on the head but eventually rushed it a little bit :-P.

For kicks and giggles I put clothes and a B-Ball on him but it isn't the final version or anything, I was just messing around. If you can't tell what it is, it's supposed to be a vest with a hoodie. The whole model needs refinement so I will be going back and fixing the head, hands and clothes, plus adding hair and fur.

I must be trying to make up for lost time on this blog...

Anyways I frequent deviant art a lot just to get inspiration and see what other people have created. I have a pretty nice list of talented people on my friends list and one of them goes by the handle raynkazuya (click on his name to check his deviant art page). He is a digital painter and he paints the most gorgeous ladies you will ever see. His pieces have been featured in Ballistic Publishing Exotique series numerous times.

T.O.P. of Big Bang

For those of you who don't know I am modeling my character to look like a real celebrity. He is a member of a RnB/Pop group Big Bang from Korea. He goes by the stage name T.O.P.

Guess I still haven't uploaded any of those sketches for the character I'm modeling. It's hard to find time these days with the project going. To make things worse I have to think about CS capstone and Art at the same time. This is going to be a stressful year!

On a side note I have been making great progress with the model. Will upload pics of it for sure later.... :-P

Sorry for the lack of updates, been pretty busy with midterms and all. I will upload some sketches I have done for this new character soon. After I scan them into the computer.

Finally an update! This is the first step to my great capstone project. More developments will be announced soon. For now see what's going on below.

Modeling John Doe

Project Goals:

For this project I want to create some much needed assets for my capstone project. My goal for this project is to create a fully modeled character ready for animation. I also want to improve my modeling skills and also force myself to follow through on my plans and goals. By the end of this project I want to show my ability to complete tasks on schedule, create a character, and also my ability to learn and improve while working on a difficult task.

Project Description:

This project is going to be creating and modeling a character from concept to completion. When the character is fully modeled, and rigged, it will be complete. I don't have a name for the character yet, so for now his name is John Doe.

Technical Issues:

It has been a long time since I have modeled anything. I have been a slacker like usual, so with this character there will be a lot of technical research involved. I will be using the Autodesk Maya 2008 Modeling and Animation handbook for my research. I will follow the tutorials in the book and apply the techniques to my own project. I will also need to learn how to rig a character for animation. For that I will try to use my book, but as an additional resource I will consult my good friends who have had experience in this type of work.
